Collections Online
The Stanford University Archaeology Collections strives to make the collection accessible to many stakeholder communities. Please be aware that Collections Online is created from historic documentation and is a work in progress. Our records are frequently updated and revised and not all collections are online. All online items are physically in our collections, but not all database records have been reviewed or edited. In addition, records represent historical perspectives and may include offensive, outdated, and/or incorrect information that does not represent current views of the Stanford Archaeology Center or Stanford University.
We warmly invite input from descendant communities, researchers, or other experts regarding this content. For more information about these archaeological, ethnographic, and archival collections, please contact us at suarchcoll@stanford.edu.
Land Acknowledgement
SUAC acknowledges that Stanford sits on the ancestral land of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe, comprised of all known surviving American Indian lineages of the San Francisco Bay region traced through Missions Dolores, Santa Clara, and San Jose and that were also members of the historic Federally Recognized Verona Band of Alameda County. Consistent with our values of community and diversity, we have a responsibility to acknowledge benefit from use and occupation of this land and to honor and make visible the university’s historic and ongoing relationships to Native peoples.
Tips for Searching
- Keyword Search: Perform a text-match search in all online records fields
- Advanced Search: Be more specific with your search. You can search for a word or phrase within a particular search category or use multiple categories to narrow down your results. For example, searching White in the People field will bring up any records associated with a member of the White family, without having to sift through black & white photographs. Phrase searching with quotation marks and use of wildcards (*) is also available in Advanced Search.
- Random Images: Browse the collection. Each Random Images page displays a random assortment of images from SUAC's Collections Online. If something piques your interest, click the thumbnail to view a larger version of the image.
