Description |
Handmade ceramic bowl depicting a factory and exiting truck in a canyon with an intact dinosaur skeleton, intact human skeleton, and disembodied skeletal appendage buried in the earth below in the center interior. Foreground is bold, graphic black and cream. Canyon background is orange-brown. Interior walls of bowl are angled, alternating black and cream slip rectangles. The interior image is matte. Exterior is red slip, referred to by Romero as "La Bajada red." |

Provenance |
Bowl was sold by Diego Romero directly to Robert Nichols of Robert Nichols Gallery, his exclusive representative in Santa Fe for nearly 30 years, around 1995. It was purchased from Robert Nichols Gallery by Mrs. Fishbein in 1995. Shiprock Santa Fe acquired the bowl from the home of Mrs. Fishbein with the consent of her estate manager and attorney. The bowl was purchased from Shiprock Santa Fe by Stanford University Archaeology Collections, represented by Dr. Christina J. Hodge, with gifted funds from Midori Arima on February 26, 2021. |
