Description |
Miniature veramic vessel. Fineware, light-brown clay with small black and white inclusions. There are distinct pottery wheel marks on the bottom as well as fainter marks on the inside. The handle and grips are almost nonexistant and look to have been added on later in the prcess. The rim is mostly uniform with a few small cracks and indentations. |

Provenance |
Pierce Collection. Archaeological materials from the former University Museum used in Classics Department teaching. The Pierce Collection is a collection of Greek Mycenean ceramics collected by an unknown individual on an unknown date. Rosamond Pierce donated the collection to Stanford University in or around 1969. The Pierce Collection was eventually stored with other teaching collections in file cabinets that were transferred from the Cantor Center for Visual Arts to the Archaeology Center in 2004. The collection was then found in Classics Professor Ian Morris's Lab at the Stanford Archaeology Center and transferred to Stanford University Archaeology Collections by Valerie A. Kiszka prior to September 2014. The collection was formally accessioned by SUAC in 2016. |
